Crawley Computer Club
The Birth of our Club
The Club was founded in October 1991 as the Crawley PCW Club by Anthony (Andy) Ray. There were five attendees at this first meeting which was held at Andy’s home.
It was not long before the Club had to find a larger venue which was Christ Church where we still meet today.
The Club enjoyed a successful few years when manufacturers of software and hardware were pleased to have a receptive audience for their products.
Unfortunately progress overtook the PCW and it stopped production in 1996 and this meant that the Club struggled on for a while still catering for a dwindling membership.
The Club Now & Into the Future
During this period the Club nearly closed but, with the adoption of a new name and acceptance of any type of computer or operating system, we started to reinvigorate until now it is once again a thriving group with an active membership which hovers around twenty five.
Boasting a varied program to suit all types of computer user.
An increasing number of members are now bring laptops so that they can join in more fully with the events. Additionally the Club has its own Desktop PC as well as a laptop. Both of these are used extensively for demonstrations together with our projector.
